IPL 2016: Ashish Nehra Out for Couple of Games, Says David Warner

Ashish Nehra has been ruled out of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s next two games due to a groin injury, David Warner revealed on Tuesday (April 12). The left-arm pacer left the field in the 11th over after bowling the first ball of his third over.

Nehra looked uncomfortable at the start of the over and though he decided to run in twice to bowl, he pulled up half-way through his run-up before leaving the field.

“Nehra has hurt his groin. He will be out for a couple of games,” said Warner after the game. “We have to look back and look at positives and turn it around. We have a good batting track at Hyderabad. We should not lose wickets in clumps.

“When you look at the outcome of the game, it really hurts when the bowler goes down. You have to reassess you plans and when two batsmen are going hard here, it’s very difficult to stop them. One bowler going down really hurts and you plans are thrown off the track. You have to think off your feet and since the eighth over I was trying to figure our what to do,” the Australian added.

Nehra has been in exceptional form for India in the Asia Cup and the ICC World Twenty20 2016. Hyderabad bought him for Rs 5.5 crore in the auction earlier this year to strengthen their bowling line-up. The team is already struggling with setbacks having lost Yuvraj Singh for a couple of weeks due to an ankle injury, and the loss of Nehra, one of the most consistent bowlers in the past six months, is sure to impact the,.

Hyderabad lost their opening game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 45 runs and will now play Kolkata Knight Riders at their home ground on Saturday.
